KITCHENER-WATERLOO REALTORS® CELEBRATE 75 YEARS WITH ANNIVERSARY GALA
KITCHENER-WATERLOO, ON (September 27, 2012) –– On Friday, September 21st, 2012 members of the Kitchener-Waterloo Association of REALTORS® (KWAR), MP’s, MPP’s, city councillors and the Waterloo Region business community gathered to celebrate the Association’s 75th anniversary. Since its inception in 1937 the KWAR has grown from 16 brokers and sales people to 1200 REALTOR® members to become the 15th largest REALTOR® Association within Canada.
The event highlighted the Association’s strong relationship with the community, particularly through its charitable activities and political affairs. Since 1993 the KWAR has donated well over half a million dollars to local charities. The KWAR also has a strong history of political action at all levels of government and is committed to improving Quality of Life across the Region by advocating on issues which support homeownership, create a vibrant economy, protect property owners, and build better communities.
In addition to a wonderful evening of dinner and dancing, the festivities included the premiere of the KWAR’s special anniversary video honouring the associations 75 year history and looking toward the future. The anniversary video can be viewed here.
More than 350 REALTOR®, government, business and industry leaders were in attendance, including 20 of the KWAR’s past presidents.
“In celebrating this milestone anniversary we’re reminded of just how proud we should be of the role REALTORS® have had in contributing and supporting this growing Region and it’s residents,” said Sara Hill, 2012 KWAR President. “This evening was not only about looking back at what we have accomplished but looking forward to a bright future for REALTORS® as the real estate landscape continues to evolve.”
