Kitchener-Waterloo Association of REALTORS® Marks 75th Anniversary

KITCHENER-WATERLOO, ON (June 18, 2012) ––   75 years ago the Kitchener-Waterloo Association of REALTORS® (KWAR) formed to better serve the interests of all people engaged or interested in matters pertaining to real estate. “That purpose has remained constant,” says Sara Hill, president of the KWAR, “though the association has grown considerably in both its size and mandate over the years.”

Originally named the Kitchener and Waterloo Real Estate Board, they elected their first executive on June 25, 1937 with A.C. Bender appointed as president to lead the membership of sixteen brokers and salespeople. Today, the KWAR is the 15th largest real estate association in Canada representing over 1200 REALTORS®.

“Our roots run deep in this community,” said Hill, “Our story intersects with that of the broader community, and we are very proud of the role we’ve played.”

To help commemorate the occasion, and demonstrate its commitment to improving Quality of Life, REALTORS® sponsored and participated in a gardening project on Saturday June 2nd planting plants and shrubs at the the entrance of the Huron Natural Area.

The message that the KWAR hopes to spread through its anniversary events says Hill is a simple one.  “REALTORS® have been an important part of this community for 75 years, and will continue to be for another 75 years to come.”

To celebrate its 75 years in the community the KWAR is holding a Gala celebration on Friday, September 21st.

Members of the association, the general public and the business community at large will be invited to purchase tickets and help mark this significant milestone.
