A new Board of Directors takes office at KWREB – George Patton to lead association

KITCHENER-WATERLOO, ON (December 3, 2010)  A new board of directors has been appointed to govern the Kitchener-Waterloo Real Estate (KWREB) board and George Patton, a Broker with Royal LePage Wolle Realty, will serve as president.

A REALTOR® since 1985 and Broker since 1987, George has served as a KWREB director since 2005. During that time he has chaired the MLS® Services Committee, Education Committee, Bylaw Committee and Finance Committee.

“After 25 years in the real estate profession, I am excited to lead the Board of Directors at the KWREB,” said George.  “Since I began my real estate career, I have been witness to many changes in how we do business. Ours is a constantly evolving industry, and I look forward to working with my fellow directors in seeing our association continue to grow, advance our technology and succeed into the future.”

A dedicated volunteer and enthusiastic community advocate, George is the treasurer of the Kitchener Oktoberfest Lions Club, and has been involved with the Lions Club since 1972, where he has helped to promote Lionism at all levels in the organization.

George sees a clear relationship between service club activities and being a REALTOR®. “Whenever there is a group working to better our communities you will inevitability find a REALTOR® quietly contributing in their midst,” says George.

Joining George as officers of the Association are 1st Vice President Sara Hill of Re/Max Twin City Realty, 2nd Vice President Dietmar Sommerfeld of CB Richard Ellis, Past President Ted Scharf of Royal LePage Scharf Realty and Executive Officer Bill Duce.

New to the directors this year is Roy Singh, Broker of Record with Century 21 Home Realty. Returning as directors are Lynn Bebenek of Team Realty K.W. Inc., Horace Coelho of Coldwell Banker Peter Benninger Realty, Karen Shartun, Royal LePage Scharf Realty, Brian Spall of Re/Max Twin City Realty, and Neil Strickler of Royal LePage Wolle Realty.

Since 1993 the KWREB has donated more than half a million dollars to support local charities. REALTORS® support Quality of Life and believe healthy communities depend on a strong economy, safe neighbourhoods, a clean environment, access to housing and the protection of rights of property owners.
